Can I operate the Wheeled Trimmer on a hillside?
The ECHO Bear Cat Wheeled Trimmer is capable of continuous operation on a slope not to exceed 15 degrees. Limited operation on slopes greater than 15 degrees is allowed.
Can I use any brand of pump parts to rebuild my pressure washer pump?
No. Only genuine ECHO Bear Cat or Annovi Reverberi parts and kits should be used to service or rebuild the pumps.
Can I vent the exhaust out of an enclosed area?
No. Never run the generator in the home or an enclosed area. Portable generators are designed to run outside where there is plenty of ventilation.
Can pressure washer pumps be rebuilt?
The pumps used on gasoline engine powered models can be rebuilt. ECHO Bear Cat has part numbers set up for pump rebuild kits that come complete with the seals, valves, etc. The pump on the PW1813E electric pressure is not rebuildable and will need to be replaced upon failure.
Can the generator be used during inclement weather?
Generators can be used during a wide variety of weather temperatures, but should be protected from the elements when not in use to prevent shorting and rusting. NEVER run a generator indoors.
Can the inverters or generators be linked parallel?
Yes. The 2000 and 3500 watt inverters can be linked parallel via the provided ECHO Bear Cat connection cable. Parallel capability is an additional benefit of inverter technology. Using the special cable or kit, you can link two IG2000 inverters, or two IG3500 inverters together to get as much as double the output. This gives you extra power when you need it, without having to trade up for a larger, heavier generator. You get more power without sacrificing portability.
Do the engines have an oil pump?
No. The engines obtain lubrication from a "Splash Lube" system.
Do the pressure washer pumps utilize oil and if so, do you need to check or change it?
Yes every pump is an oil filled pump when it is shipped. The PW2700 pump is “sealed” so you do not need to change the oil, the oil will last the life of the pump. On the PW3000 and PW4000 which utilize the triplex pumps it is recommended the oil be changed every season.
Do the Sabre Tooth Blade and Triple Blade Brush Cutter fit all models?
Yes. By removing the mow ball both accessories will work and can be height adjusted to preference.
Does my splitter come with hydraulic fluid?
The hydraulic system on this log splitter comes filled with high performance Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) to accommodate operation in temperatures below 32 degrees F (0 degrees C). When adding or replacing ATF, use a Dexron® III or Mercon® qualified product. Check the fluid on level ground with the jack stand in the down position.
Does the portable generator need to be grounded?
No as it is neutrally bonded to the frame (floating neutral). For additional safety, the generator can also be grounded. We strongly recommend that you check and adhere to all applicable federal, state and local regulations relating to grounding.
How difficult is it to perform maintenance on stump grinder?

How do I change the trimming line?
Change the line by folding a 20" piece of cutting string in half. Insert the piece into the slot of trimmer head disk until the bend in the string is past the line holder tab. Pull the string underneath the tab until secured in place. It may be necessary to be removed pieces of broken worn string before new string can be properly installed.
How Do I Choose The Right Water Pump For My Needs?
When shopping for a water pump there are various items to consider. All water pumps are measured in discharge capacity (GPM), vertical suction lift, and maximum head lift. GPM Discharge Capacity is the rate of speed which water flows from the source to the discharge point and is measured in gallons per minute. It provides the power to move water quickly. Vertical Suction Lift is the vertical distance from the source of the water to the pump. This is important for draining a basement or deep pond. Maximum Head Lift is the total height from the source of the water to the destination or drainage point. This provides the power to move water over a distance.
How do I engage the Stump Grinder?
Position the stump grinder so the cutter head is adjacent to the stump. Start the stump grinder and hold up the bottom bail so it doesn't shut off. Pull the top bail to the handle and hold it there to activate the left wheel brake, holding it so it does not turn. Gradually, using the locked left tire as a pivot point, slowly pivot the cutter head until the cutting teeth contact the stump. Pivot the stump grinder on the left wheel in a slow, smooth sweeping motion from left to right as the teeth grind the stump. Do not force the cutting teeth. Check position by watching through the screen opening. Grind the stump down to a maximum of 4 inches below ground level.
How long will the chipper blades last on my chipper/shredder?
Depending on the type of wood, age and cleanliness, chipper blades will work well for between five and ten hours. Dry, dirty wood will dull the blades faster.
How long will the chipper blades last?

How many speeds do the self-propelled Wheeled Vacuums have and how fast does it go?
There are three separate gears on the transmission of the Self-Propelled Wheeled Vacuum, and the speed range from 1 to 3 mph.
How much reduction of debris will I get with the wheeled vacuum?
There is not much reduction; however, by passing through a six-bladed fan into the bag some natural breakage occurs allowing the five-bushel bag to be filled. Reduction through compaction will happen.
How much reduction of debris will I get?
There is very limited reduction of the material due to the design for compaction vs. reduction. The Debris Loader is designed to effectively load leaves, grass, or other light debris from the ground to a vehicle collection bin.
Is it bad to run the pump dry?
Absolutely. The water pump shaft and impeller are spinning at extremely fast rates. With no water to transfer their rotational energy to, that energy is released as heat instead. If the pump is run dry, its moving parts will become extremely hot, causing severe damage to the pump over time and greatly limiting its service life.
Is it hard to push the Wheeled Vacuum on turf?
The large wheels have ball bearing hubs that allow easy movement.
Is there a rental application for this machine?
Yes. Commercial landscapers and yard care people will have a seasonal need for this piece of equipment.
Pressure and Flow, and what causes water pressure.
Pressure and flow are inversely related–that is, if pressure is increased, then flow decreases, and vice versa. “Pressure” is the amount of force per area, and “flow” is the volume of material moving through a given area per second (not the same as velocity, which is the distance traveled per time). Water pressure is caused by resistance to flow. If a force tries to move water and there is resistance to that movement, then the water becomes pressurized. Consider a standard garden hose; when the end of the hose is unrestricted, water flows out of the hose in large quantities, but without much force. If you press your thumb over the opening, however, the stream of water that shoots out from around your thumb will be much more forceful and will travel further, but there will also be less water per second leaving the hose.
Should the fuel be drained when storing the portable generator for more than 30 days?
Yes. It is highly recommended that you drain the fuel from the tank and run the carburetor dry. ECHO Bear Cat engines meet EPA regulations which are less tolerant of stale fuel. The use of a fuel stabilizer is highly recommended.

What are the types of engine driven pumps in the market today?
Transfer/Clear Water Pumps - Transfer pumps are ideal for draining your hot tub or garden pond. In addition, they can be used to drain shallow flooded areas and for lawn sprinkling. These types of pumps are made for clear water pumping and should be free of debris; although they can handle small solids up to .25 inch. Semi-Solid Pumps - Semi-solid pumps tend to have similar characteristics to transfer pumps except that they are able to handle small solids of .25 to .75 inch. Semi-solid pumps are best suited for draining your pool or removing water from your basement. Trash Pumps - Trash pumps are able to pass solids from .75 to 2 inches and are used for commercial and agricultural use. Typically these pumps are used for irrigation, to drain small flooded areas or utilized on a construction site. High-Pressure Pumps - High-pressure pumps are designed to provide higher pressure at lower volumes. This is ideal for agricultural and hobby farm markets due to this type of pump’s ability to move water over long distances.

What causes pump cavitation?
When the inlet pressure of a water pump falls below pump design specifications, tiny vapor bubbles can form in the water around the eye of the impeller. When the water containing these bubbles is forced into a high pressure environment on the other side of the impeller, these bubbles collapse, thereby creating tiny shock waves and points of high temperature. These shock waves can actually corrode the surface of the impeller. To prevent cavitation, always be sure to operate your water pump within its pressure and flow specifications.
What do I use the optional 4" Vacuum Hose Kit for?
This hose kit is designed to allow vacuuming hard to reach places.
What happens when an open centrifugal pump is “Dead-headed”?
centrifugal pump is ‘dead-headed’ when it is operated without an open discharge outlet. Contrary to what one might assume, centrifugal pumps cannot be stalled if water flow is cut off. Very little horsepower input is required in order to spin the impeller with no water flow, so if the pump is driven by a hydraulic motor, the input hydraulic pressure will be low and the pump will not stall, instead continuing to spin the same volume of water as it would during normal operation. With no outlet, the rotational energy of the shaft and impeller is converted into heat; eventually, the water will boil inside the volute, causing severe damage over time.
What is an open centrifugal pump?
Centrifugal water pumps use centrifugal force to pressurize and move water from the inlet to the outlet. A rotating set of vanes (called an 'impeller') is spun by the pump shaft. As water is forced through the impeller, rotational energy is transferred from the impeller to the water, which gains velocity and pressure through the centrifugal force applied and is flung from the impeller. The volute (a spiral-shaped case) funnels the now-pressurized water to the outlet. Image below shows clockwise rotation as viewed from the motor mound.
What is the application for the Debris Loader?

What is the difference between an Inverter and a Generator?
A generator creates electrical power, while an inverter changes one type of electrical current to another. There are two different types of electrical current, alternating (AC) and direct (DC). Inverters are used when devices that use AC power need to be used in a car or other place where only DC power is available. The two machines have distinctly different functions, although there are inverter generators which do both for greater energy efficiency.
What is the difference between rated watts and maximum (surge) watts?
Rated watts describe the amount of power the portable generator can produce continuously. Maximum wattage is the power that the generator can produce for short periods of time. Motor starting is a good example of maximum wattage requirements.
