Works Effortlessly!

The ECHO Bear Cat SC3265 is forgiving, even when some things are done "wrong" (e.g., stuffing too many dried leaves in to the chute instead of letting them self-feed). It effectively chipped and shredded everything effortlessly - freshly pulled weeds, dry and wet leaves, dry and wet branches of all sizes up to 3" diameter (plus a little), and old lumber (1x1, 2x2). We talked with a local dealer who says she has sold several SC3265 ECHO Bear Cat models, and has had no complaints or returns.

Can I use any brand of pump parts to rebuild my pressure washer pump?
No. Only genuine ECHO Bear Cat or Annovi Reverberi parts and kits should be used to service or rebuild the pumps.
Can pressure washer pumps be rebuilt?
The pumps used on gasoline engine powered models can be rebuilt. ECHO Bear Cat has part numbers set up for pump rebuild kits that come complete with the seals, valves, etc. The pump on the PW1813E electric pressure is not rebuildable and will need to be replaced upon failure.
Do the pressure washer pumps utilize oil and if so, do you need to check or change it?
Yes every pump is an oil filled pump when it is shipped. The PW2700 pump is “sealed” so you do not need to change the oil, the oil will last the life of the pump. On the PW3000 and PW4000 which utilize the triplex pumps it is recommended the oil be changed every season.
How difficult is it to perform maintenance on the machine?
ECHO Bear Cat products are designed with ease of maintenance in mind. Proper maintenance is vital and should be performed routinely with blades, belts and bearings being most important.
Pressure and Flow, and what causes water pressure.
Pressure and flow are inversely related–that is, if pressure is increased, then flow decreases, and vice versa. “Pressure” is the amount of force per area, and “flow” is the volume of material moving through a given area per second (not the same as velocity, which is the distance traveled per time). Water pressure is caused by resistance to flow. If a force tries to move water and there is resistance to that movement, then the water becomes pressurized. Consider a standard garden hose; when the end of the hose is unrestricted, water flows out of the hose in large quantities, but without much force. If you press your thumb over the opening, however, the stream of water that shoots out from around your thumb will be much more forceful and will travel further, but there will also be less water per second leaving the hose.
What are the most common types of pressure washer pumps?
Wobble, Axial and Triplex. Wobble pumps are used on entry level electric pressure washers. Axial cam pumps are more reliable and used most often on consumer grade pressure washers. Triplex plunger pumps are more heavy-duty, serviceable, and most often used on quality contractor level pressure washers.
What happens when an open centrifugal pump is “Dead-headed”?
centrifugal pump is ‘dead-headed’ when it is operated without an open discharge outlet. Contrary to what one might assume, centrifugal pumps cannot be stalled if water flow is cut off. Very little horsepower input is required in order to spin the impeller with no water flow, so if the pump is driven by a hydraulic motor, the input hydraulic pressure will be low and the pump will not stall, instead continuing to spin the same volume of water as it would during normal operation. With no outlet, the rotational energy of the shaft and impeller is converted into heat; eventually, the water will boil inside the volute, causing severe damage over time.
What is an open centrifugal pump?
Centrifugal water pumps use centrifugal force to pressurize and move water from the inlet to the outlet. A rotating set of vanes (called an 'impeller') is spun by the pump shaft. As water is forced through the impeller, rotational energy is transferred from the impeller to the water, which gains velocity and pressure through the centrifugal force applied and is flung from the impeller. The volute (a spiral-shaped case) funnels the now-pressurized water to the outlet. Image below shows clockwise rotation as viewed from the motor mound.
When should I replace gaskets?
Any time that the water pump is serviced and the gaskets are removed, replace the gaskets. Gaskets are inexpensive, and a faulty gasket will cause the pump to leak.
Who are the pressure washer pumps built by?
All pumps are made by Annovi Reverberi (AR) http://www.annovi-reverberi.com which is an Italian family owned business. The PW2700 (5hp Honda GC160) model features an axial style, consumer grade pump. The PW3000 (6.5hp Honda GX200) model uses a commercial grade, triplex plunger pump. The PW4000 (13hp Honda GX390) model also uses a commercial grade, triplex plunger pump.
